Brief Description: Pilots sticks wiring
I 'found' a couple of cyclic grips of an Army Kiowa (Aussie version of the OH-58), and decided I wanted to fit them to the RV-8. Unfortunatly the grip sizing was all wrong for the rear stick, due to interference with the pilots seatback. THerefore I went with the Van's wood grip, doesn't really suit, but it is ergonomic, and I had it lying around! Anyhow, after repainting the grips, and replacing some of the switches, it was time to marry it up to the joystick. I had to make up a delron bushing to step down from the cyclic grip hole, to fit the 1" joystick tube. Easy enough on the lathe. I also had to make a bushing for the rear stick. Due to the large number of switches, it was a slow process wiring it up. I really did want to hardwire it to the airframe, however, I needed to to be removable for access for the remainder of the build. Pilot Switches on the stick: - 4-way trim - Autopilot disconnect - PTT - Flaps - VHF frequency flip-flop - Transponder Ident
There are spare switches on the grip, but that's enough to remember!
The rear stick only has 4-way trim and PTT.
