For me it was a no-brainer to install a g-activated ELT. THe difficult thing with the RV-* slider is where to mount it. I spent a lot of time researching on Kitlog and VAF where people mount them. I elected to mount it mid cockpit, right side, at the crossmember. I intend to secure the tip of the antenna with string or similar to prevent it touching the canopy. The actual unit will be mounted on my avionics tray, which is located where the battery would go with a rear installation. THis is a borrowed unit for fabrication purposes. I will get it closer to time due battery shelf-life issues. Importantly, the coax for the antenna does not cross a structural junction, that is in an accident, if the fuse breaks, it is reasonably expected it won't break the coax.
