Brief Description: Right Wing Bottom Skin and Access Panel
I was on a serious roll today and got a lot done in a short amount of time.
I fitted and drilled both the inboard and outboard lower skins. The only areas I didn't drill are the bellcrank rib and skin lap joint.
I then removed the skin and cut the hole for the access panel. I also made the access panel and then re-hung the skin.
This wing is going much faster than the first wing. It is nice to know what you are doing... I am also able to aviod the mistakes I made on the first wing, saving rework time.
I cut the access panel and doubler a little larger than the plans so I have a 5/8" flange, this gives a little bit more room for the screws otherwise they are at minimum edge distance if built per plans.
I should have trimmed the O/B skin for the aileron while I had it off. I will pull it back off and take care of that before moving on.
Lower skin drilled and then removed to cut access panel.
Corner radius of access panel cut using the fly-cutter.
Skin re-hung. Access panel doubler clamped in place.
