Brief Description:  Cowl Face Preparation

Vans pink cowl is known to have a few issues. Among these is that oce fitted, the two halves don't meet to make a flat surface behind the spinner. The face of the two halves form a slight V. To cirrect this, I put a few dobs of dry micro with a little black resin dye on the face of the spinner ring of the cowl. I then mounted the cowl and spinner backplate. I made a spacer and taped it to a file. I used this to sand the micro so they were all a specific distance from the back if the spinner. I then assembled the cowl off the plane, coated the face with white dry micro and then sanded with a large flat sanding block. I sanded until I could just start to see the darker color spots showing through. I adjusted my pressure so that all the spots were even. From there, it was just a matter of cleanup, smoothing, and getting the radius ro match.
