Brief Description:  Headset / Audio Wiring 1

I started this work the other day, but forgot to take pictures. After thinking on the topic for quite some time, I decided to mount the headset jacks in the former forward of the main spar carrythrough. These are easy enough to reach in flight and generally out of the way. As a plus, they are close the the avionics, so the wiring runs don't have to be as long.

A bid deal for my wife is that she wants to be able to listen to her own music separate from mine. The PMA5000EX audio panel lets the crew and passengers have separate music inputs. I added an AUX input to the panel and a selector switch. The selector switches her headphones (not mic) between co-pilot and passenger outputs on the audo panel. This way her mic will still work normally and she will be able to hear intercom and communication in both modes. I can set the audio panel to crew mode and if she is switched to passenger then she will not hear me of the radio, just her music. A quick flip of a switch will put her back in contact.

For all this I had to run some extra 3-conductor shielded wire. The AUX jack and 3 leads to the selector switch. The switch is a 2-way, 4 pole switch. The center connects to the headphone jack and the two other sets connect to the co-pilot and passenger outputs from the audio panel.
