After riveting on the flanges I made a spacer for the latch mechanism that mounts to the panel. I marked the position of the ball on the door and riveted it in place. The ball can float just a little bit to correct and misallignment. I used #6 screws to attach the door to the hinge and bolted everything in place. I still need to add the flanges to attach the boc to the sub-panel and adjust the gaps around the door, but overall I am pretty happy with the result.
I will attach a small piece of fabric from the box to the door to cover the hinge and make sure nothing falls though (since my breakers will be right under the map box.
