Brief Description:  Static Air System 1

Today I started working on the static air ports. The Vans static ports are simply a pop-rivet with the center rod pressed out. The ports work very well, but needed a better solution for connecting to the statis line inside the fuselage. I bought the safeair static plumbing kit that uses DOT airline and quick-connect fitting like those used on air-brake systems. I left the statis ports out that safeair sells since they are not as accurate and the pop-rivets. I needed a method to connect the pop-rivet to the 1/8" NPT fitting on the safeair lines. I decided to buy a couple extra fuel-tank drain flanges from Vans and mount them on the inside of the fuselage. This methond worked out pretty well. I fit the flanges and then sealed them to the skin with proseal. Now I just have to let the proseal cure.
