I didn't make much progress over the last couple of week, between work and the cold weather I had few opportunities to get out to the shop.
Today I did some final trimming and fitting of the forward floor skin.
Since the side skins have to step up onto the floor skin flange, I was concerned that the rivets at the firewall weldment and F-604 flange would pinch the side skin next to the floor skin flange. I spoke with Ken and Vans and he suggested to just taper the skin a bit (like the wing skin overlap). At the rear corner he said to cut the corner at a 45 and then taper the edge and there should be no problem. I went ahead and finished the skin like Ken suggested and everything fits great.
I also made some rivet spacers for where the forward and mid floor skins overlap and the -3 rivets also pass through the seat ribs. The joggle in the rib flange runs pretty far aft of the overlap rivet line, so a spacer is needed to provide a smooth transition.
