Brief Description:  Flap Actuator 2

Today I continued work on the flap actuator assembly. I pilot-drilled the bearing blocks for the weldment and then fitted the assembly into the fuselage. I match-drilled the F-605 to the bearing blocks. I put the center support in place for the fitting, but I haven't drilled it yet. If drilled per plans, the forward hole through the center support falls almost dead center at the seam between the F-605 flange and the baggage rib flange. I'm not very happy with that arrangement. I will either make my own bearing block or just add a doubler the the inside of the flange and drill through that. I may also use nutplates for the support bolts so I don't have to cut the tunnel cover out around the bearing block.

I started messing with the side covers to elclose the actuator, but I need to pick up some poster-board before I can continue. I find it interesting that the seat ribs aren't flat (see the second picture), but the cover blank provided in the kit has the bottom flange bent in a straight line (picture three). This should be fun...
