Brief Description:  Cabin Side Skin 8

Today I finished the vast majority of drilling the left side skin. I then formed the "cone" transision to the tailcone and trimmed the skin along the side of the fuselage. I also trimmed the lower (upper in the jig) edge of the skin.

I found a good way to determin how much to cut-back the side skin at the "cone" Since the skin needs to be cut before you drill the skin, there are not many fixed references on the skin to use. Before I trimmed the skin, I clmped it in place with the cone mostly formed. I then traced the location of the aft edge on the side skin. With the side slin removed, I marked where I wanted the edge of the skin to be and then marked points along the curve at 1" intervals. I then measured the distance between the two lines and transfered the marked to the skin and cut. Works perfect.

FYI: in the first picture, it look like there is a hole way to close to the edge of the skin (bottom left of the picture). That whole section of the skin will be trimmed back quite a bit and the hole will be in the trimming.
