I have to admit, I was very nervous about the longeron bending. As with most things, it wasn't all that bad. Making the bend template was as much work as the actual bending. I cut the template out of 1" x 8" x 6' white pine. I transfered the curve from the plans to the wood and then cut it with the jigsaw. It took some work with a small plane and snading drum to get it just right.
As for the bending, I used the procedure recommended by someone on the VAF forum.
I marked all my station lines on the longerons. I then put them in a vice together like a 'T' with the vertical leg in the vice. Rather than start with the sharp bend (per the manual) I made the cuve first. I bent both longerons at the same time to match the template (took a lot of trial and error). Once I was happy with the big bend, I made the sharp bend per the manual. Looks good so far...
