March was nearly a lost month due to business travel and Spring chores. It was very discouraging. What I was able to accomplish was construction of the "elevator squeezer" per Van specs (2 ea. 2x8s hinged together). I squeezed the to elebators beyond their preformed angle to a sharper angle required to attach to elevator spar. Versus the fuel tank sealant, I applied a RTV gasket sealant to the elevator stiffiners that are in close proximity to one another once the elevator is "squeezed" to a proper angle. It went well. Regarding preparation of the elevator lead counter weights, I took a hack saw to them to cut out the prescribed amount of lead. Weights were mounted in the clecoed elevator frame work shown in pics 2 and 3 and drilled using the framework as a guide. Removed from the frame work, the holes were countersunk, pic 1. So I got something done, anyway. I will soon be disassembling the elebator framework for deburring and priming.
