To rivet the aileron bracket assemblies I used several techniques. First I clamped a 2 x 4 to the bench and match drilled several of the mounting holes to the wood and inserted clecos to hold the assembly. To comply with the instructions that came with the aileron bracket sub-assembly kit for minimal separation between the plates, I added a C-clamp to assist the clecos in holding the parts together. I used the gun and bucking bar to set several rivets holding the brackets together. After reading on the VAF website about clearance issues for the rivets closest to the bearings, I decided to set these as double flush, using the back rivet set and the C-frame. The rivet called out in the plans was slightly too long and left quite a bit of material above the countersink for the shop head. I went down one length and the rivets set well. I carefully filed the excess material from the first rivet shop head to match the others.
