Brief Description: Finish Top Skin Riveting, Begin Aileron Brackets
I removed the few bad rivets remaining in the top skin and Frances helped replace them. Up to this point she had only bucked the rivets while I back riveted, but we had one bad rivet on the inboard section of the rear spar that she ran the gun and I bucked. She did a great job! Top skins complete!
I inventoried the parts for the aileron brackets and the Service Bulletin reinforcing plates. I marked the parts then cut the reinforcing plates apart on the band saw. I used the disc sander to clean up the edges of the reinforcing plates and the aileron brackets, then finished them on the scotch brite wheel. I drilled the brackets to #30 and deburred the holes. I did a trial assemble to get familiar with how all the parts fit and to prepare for countersinking for flush rivets.
