Brief Description:  FabricateTie Down Assembly

Drilled the match hole in the tapped AEX stock from the Cleaveland Tools tie-down kit. Clamped the spacers and and W-731 to the right spar with a bolt through the locator hole. Rolled the spar and used the holes in the spar as a drill guide to drill the W-731. On the first hole I was using plastic quick clamps to hold the parts. These did not provide sufficient clamping pressure and the W-731 "walked" under the drill, misaligning the parts and making the hole in the wrong place. Marked the bad part for the scrap pile and started again with metal C-clamps holding the parts as in picture #1. Successfully drilled all the 3/16 holes and deburred. Used the platenuts with a hardware store 10-32 screw to locate and clamped the platenuts for drilling. Drilled these holes in the drill press. Deburred all holes. Machine countersunk the back side of the spacers for flush rivets.

Repeated the process for the left spar tiedown assembly.

Edge finished the W-731s and scuffed all parts with scotchbrite. Washed with Dawn and warm water and air dried. Primed all parts with NAPA 7220.
