Brief Description:  Rudder Assembly

Now that the tip fits properly I disassembled the rudder and dimpled the skins for the rivets that will attach the tip. Used the right skin to mark a piece of angle aluminum for the trailing edge. I started to use the skin as a drill guide but did not like the possibility of opening the skin holes if the drill wandered. Reassembled the left and right skins on the rudder and my buddy Kevin came over to help. We center punched all the marks on the angle and drilled the holes in the drill press. Then we set the 6 rivets for the skin to counterbalance skin and 3 for skin/counterbalance/spar on each side. We inserted the tip rib, cleco'd it and set the two pulled rivets to attach the rib to the spar. We attached the piece of angle aluminum to help straighten the trailing edge of the rudder. On 10/28/13 I spent 1.0 hours setting rivets in the rudder skin to spar with the squeezer.
