Brief Description:  Complete Horizontal Stab, Start Vertical Stab

Second furlough day. I set the rivets I drilled out last session successfully. They look much better than the old ones! As I admired my work, a few other rivets which met the basic specifications started to look bad in comparison to my well-driven replacements. Decided to keep the standards high and drilled out three more. Scratched up the primer a bit in getting these out, so I masked off the area and re-primed before setting the new rivets. New rivets were all successfully driven. Moved the stab to the bench, masked off the ceter section again and gave a final shot of primer to cover some scuffing from the bucking bar. Put the stab back on the jig. wiped it down with acetone, and called it complete.

Continued work on the Vertical stab. I prepared the ribs: VS-704, 705. 706, and 707, by deburring all the edges, scotchbite scuffing and fluting to straighten them. I used the "table-top" fluting technique I saw in Hints for Homebuilders, and it worked great. Clecoed the ribs to the front and rear spar and called it a day.
