When I tried to put the rod end bearings on the F-789 the threads would not start. I was able to thread them easily onto a proper size bolt. Wrote to Van's and they said the threads on the threaded rod ends can be tight, and I should use some lubricant and a wrench to get the bearings on. Took the pushrod to Ken's shop where he suggested we try a split die we could place around the threads and then turn it off the end to clear the threads. This worked and the rod end bearings and jam nuts now thread onto the F-789 easily.
Also drilled both ends of the F-789 to #30. Removed threaded ends, deburred and scuffed for primer inside and out. Washed tube in warm water and Dawn dish soap, rinsed, and hung up to dry.
