To support the radio and reinforce the bulkhead I decided to put a piece of angle on either side of the opening, them make a bracket to connect the radio rack to the angles. Took a bit of trial and error to come up with the geometry and initial shape for the brackets. Finally got a workable solution and did some test fits.
