The next steps in fitting the latch is to drill the outside handle to the inner mechanism. Assembled the latch and the center latch tube is too long. Measured and cut, checked fit, measured and cut again to get handle to fit snug to canopy thrust washer. Finished cut end on belt sander and scotchbrite wheel. Used the outer handle to mark tube for drilling. Started drill in mark, then tried to use handle as drill guide. This seemed to work Ok. Drilled and tapped outer handle for mounting screw, then countersunk the face. Upon assembly I realized the handle did not properly align when canopy is latched. Ordered new parts form Van's.
