Started on the F-789 elevator pushrod. Reading on VAF suggests making it a little longer than called out in the plans to give more engagement for the rod ends, so I added 1/4 inch. (Note: After assembly and putting it in the plane the 1/4 inch is not necessary. Plans length would have worked fine.) Cut the tube with a tubing cutter and used tape on the end to measure circumference. Put tape on a board, measured length and divided by 6 for the six rivets. Marked the spacing on the tape and wrapped it back around the tube. Centerpunched the marks and began drilling on the drill press with #40. So far, so good.
