Brief Description:  Rivet Canopy Rail, Begin Bending Frame

Back riveted the canopy rail to the spacer to make the double flush rivets. Did most in the C-frame, a couple had to be done on the back rivet plate. Shop head looked a little small so I upsized one rivet and it completely filled the countersink, after a couple of riveting sessions. Went back to length from plans and got acceptable shop heads. Set the rail on the plane and mounted the slide block to see how it fit. Used the belt sander to round off edges and provide clearance per the plans.

Traced the roll bar on a large piece of cardboard to compare to forward canopy bow. This made it easy to see where the bow needs to be bent. Tried bending by hand (and foot) as decribed in Van's info, not much luck. Moved on to using a rope to pull sides together and a hydraulic jack to move center higher. This worked better. Trial fit on the plane shows still more bending required.
