I'm not going to paint the stainless steel crossbar of the Almost a 14 mod, so I tried polishing it with Mother's metal polish. It polished up pretty well with only a little effort. Riveted on the seat back receivers with the squeezer.
On advice from Ken, who just completed installing the mod in his 7, there can be some interference with longeron skin rivets and the crossbar. I drilled the three rivets on each side that are next to the bar, countersunk the longeron on the inside, and reset these rivets as double flush.
