Brief Description: Rivet Left Leading Edge, Install Tank
I completed squeezing the leading edge skin to spar rivets. I used pulled rivets to attached the leading edge ribs to the spar per my earlier conversation with Van's tech support. I had one bad rivet in the inboard rib that had to be drilled and replaced. I was able to access the bad rivet via the inspaection plate for the stall warning and used a 90 degree angle drill to drill the factory head. A combination of tapping with a punch and pulling with side cutters finally removed the body. The replacement rivet was set from the opposite direction with no problem.
I installed the fuel tank with half the Z-bracket bolts first, then half the skin to spar screws. Everything lined up well.
Finally I cleco'd on the inboard skin with 100% clecos and marked the different rivet sizes on the blue plastic and with tape to prepare for riveting.
