Brief Description:  Dimple RightTank Skin, Drill Fuel Cap Flange

Working solo on dimpling right tank skin I got to parts that I needed a third hand. Tried a couple of ideas and then remembered my rib flanging tool. This guy worked great to help hold the skin down on the bench as well as using the handle to push the skin up out of the way for swinging the hammer while dimpling. Was able to dimple the entire tank skin solo.

Moved on to drilling the other fuel cap flange. Followed the same procedure as yesterday and got this one nicely centered in the hole. Dis-assembled and deburred all holes, then dimpled the flange mounting holes. Dimpled the screw holes around the perimeter of the tank skin last.

On finishing this process I realized I had mis-interpreted the countersinks on the fuel tank drain flange and dimpled the skin where it should have been left flat. I used a pair of flat sets in the C-frame and removed the dimples. Checked the VAF website and sure enough, I am not the first one to do this. Consensus was the drain flange is a low stress area and will be secured with rivets as well as tank sealant, so the slight weakening of the metal from dimpling and un-dimpling should be no problem. Build on.
