Brief Description:  Rib Preparation Continued

Finished adjusting the flanges on all ribs then moved on to straightening the main ribs for each wing. I fluted the ribs using the method described in EAA Hints for Homebuilders by Brady Lane but modified by an idea I saw on VAF website. Instead of holding the rib flat on a tabletop I held it against the edge of my bench. This gave the required reference for straightening and the technique of squeezing the fluting pliers just until the tip of the rib moved worked perfectly. It was easy to see the rib move back toward straight with each flute. Using the edge of the bench made a comfortable working set up and each rib was done in a few minutes.

Decided to run the Van's conduit from root to tip on both wings as I plan to have wingtip mounted navigation lights, strobes and landing/taxi lights. In the left wing I will also run the power for the heated pitot tube and stall warninig wires in the conduit. I located the center for the conduit hole per Van's instruction sheet on wiring, then drilled a pilot hole in one rib. I used this as a master then cleco'd one left/right rib together and match drilled. Continued this process for all the ribs to locate/drill the pilot hole. Another tip found on the VAF website!
