Brief Description: Prime Parts and Begin Riveting Rear Spar
On Sunday, 24 Aug, we washed the rear spar parts with Dawn dish soap and warm water, air dried them and primed with NAPA 7220. Work time 1.0 hours.
Monday evening we assembled the left spar parts and used cleco's to fill all holes that are not to be riveted at this time. This technique worked well on the reinforcing plates, but we will have to add cleco's and mark the ones not to rivet on the legs of the reinforcing fork. Used the C-frame and 12 inch back riveting tool to set rivets. We had one rivet smiley by letting the work bounce a bit when hitting the rivet "just once more". Tried out my new rivet removal tool on a practice piece and it worked perfectly. Drilled the smiley and replaced the rivet with no problem.
