Brief Description:  Final Prep and Primer

Completed preparation on the right side horizontal stabilizer by giving all parts a good final scuff with the scotchbrite pads. I washed all the parts with Dawn dish soap and warm water, wearing gloves to not touch the clean parts. Set them up on the porch swing to air dry. While the parts dried I set up my down draft paint box. Once the parts were dry I blew them off again with compressed air, just to be sure no water was hiding in the many holes. Once they were dry I sprayed with a light coat of NAPA 7220 primer. The primer covered well and the sharpie markings identifying the parts bled through, so I did not lose the identification and orientation marks I had on the parts. To protect the inside of the taiI I prepared and primed the flanges and webs of all the skeleton pieces. The inside of the skin I only scuffed lines along the rivet holes where I removed the protective plastic. Then I pulled the rest of the plastic off and primed the scuffed areas, with only light overspray onto the untouched Alclad areas between the rivet lines.
