Brief Description: Sanding the shelled fibergalss parts
Today I started sanding the shelled parts and although it does take time, it is easier than I thought it would be. I have been using a small mouse type sander which may be slower than the oscillating type, but it is easier to control and does not remove the epoxy too quickly. The idea is to make the part smooth, but not get back to the fiberglass and create more pin holes that you just filled. Then I used a block sander and hand sanded to get the part smooth and ready for prime. I started with 120 grit to crack the shell and moved to 180 and 220 grit quickly thereafter. We’ll see how well I did once the primer goes on, there is no hiding flaws.
