Brief Description:  Preparation for painting the panel brow

I needed to tape off half the airplane to paint the panel brow, but I don’t think there is a smarter way to do this. To get the paint line the canopy windscreen has to be trimmed to its final size matched up with the slider canopy leading edge. The rest was easy, Scotch Brite the metal getting paint, clean with Prep-Sol, spray with self etching primer and paint with Satin Black Auto Paint. I think the results were really good.
The two scraps were painter with Auto enamel and auto lacquer respectively and given the scratch test the same day. The lacquer was much tougher, and held up to some real abuse. The enamel wasn’t too bad, but did scratch as you can see.
