Brief Description:  Main aileron push tubes & Started mounting flaps

I really got a lot done today, and everything turned out on the first try. I installed the aileron push tubes, and they went right in with little fuss. Next I made a few more spacers on the lath and assembled the aileron to bell crank connection and it worked flawlessly. No bumps, rubs, or hits. I did a final fit on the whole aileron attachment and everything fell into place. The ailerons are on the wing and this steps is done, except for finial push tube adjustment. Next, I cut the main aileron push tubes to the proper length per the plan and finished off the ends, tomorrow I will drill for the rod end connecters.

Last, I started to install the first flap on the right wing. I will take pictures the next time in the hanger, but basically I had to jig the aileron in its neutral position, clap the flap hinge in place, and by using an 8 foot metal rule I could get everything in line and start drill the hinge attach to the wing. After some pretty tricky maneuvers I was able to drill the two outside hinge holes and lock the flap in place. Then it was a matter of match drilling the remaining holes. On thing you must do is to either put the outside bottom wing skin in place, to get the flap brace into the proper position, or make a support match drilled from the skin to hold it in place. If you don’t do this the flap brace will sag and your trailing edge will not line up. Also, the aileron MUST be held in the neutral position when you do this. The hinge plane and the aileron plane are different and if you want the flap to match aileron in the up position, this is the way it must be done.

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT AND THERE IS NOTHING IN THE NOTES TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT!
