Brief Description:  Installing Empennage tips

Today Rafael and I started to work on the empennage fiberglass tips. This is messy work and you are always itching while cutting and sanding fiberglass. The rudder bottom was a very difficult and tedious part to cut and attach. The only tip I can give is to take your time and measure twice and cut once and always make the cut undersize. I still didn’t get it perfect, but I’m not sure anyone could given the fiberglass waviness and tolerances. It’s not bad, just not perfect, an the gap around the horn is a little bigger than I was trying for. The elevator tips will take lots of filling and sanding after attaching to the ends and the lead counter weight. The top rudder tip was too short and will need filling, but it is still better than starting from scratch. The fiberglass on my giant scale RC models was of much better quality, but the price was very high also. I’m hoping the new epoxy cowls are better, other wise I can see spending many hours on fiberglass
