Brief Description:  Wheel fairings detail work

I put a layer of Super-Fill (very light and strong filler) over the glass layups to start smoothing out the irregularities of the glass layups on the wheel fairings. Most of what you see will get sanded off except the low spots, which is the point of the fillers. I also added 4 layers of 9 ounce cloth to the gear leg fairings where they attach to the gear leg with hose clamps. I taped and waxed the leg first in then clamped the fairings in place with the layups on both sides. This will allow the layups to harden and form to the gear leg and will strengthen the attachment with the hose clamp. This is per the plans, but I have to say I am not impressed with the design. If it does not work or hold up well, I will go to another attachment method I have seen on VansAirForce.com, using a block attached to the gear with fiberglass and using a screw into the block to hold the fairing in place.
