Ok, I didn’t like Vans method for the bottom cowl exhaust support and felt compelled to do a neater installation that would create less drag then the external plate attachment. I changed the design to by using 8 platenuts to attach the cowl support to the cowl and then made a filler piece out of .063 aluminum to fill the gap for the nose gear leg. I have seen a method used like this before, it looks good and is stronger than the cover plate and is flush. Then downside is removing 8 screws vs. 4 to remove the bottom cowl. Since this will most likely be less than 1-2 times a year I’m ok with it. Tomorrow I will finish the attachment to the plane.
