I mounted the stick grips today following the instructions from CH Products. These are very nice grips, light, strong and versatile. I wanted the finish length to be as close to the full length of the original stick, but wanted the stick to clear the panel. I think the top of the grip is about ½” shorter the stock stick and it does not touch the panel, even though it is tiled forward a little bit. Since the CH grip mounts on the top of the tube, you have to cut off a lot of the stick to maintain the same length. I didn’t take a measurement of the amount cut off, but from the top of the grip to the mounting bushing is probably 6-7 inches, so that’s what needs to be removed. The CH bushing is a press fits and the neat part of the design is the ability to set and change the rotation of the stick grip for comfort. I bought the CH 8, see: http://www.chproducts.com/oem/aircraft.html and added the internal relay option for the elevator and aileron trim.
