A detail I hadn't seen in the plans earlier is that a (the) crucial cross-brace of the fuselage that sustains the brunt of compression load from the landing gear shock struts is a very special ($) square chromoly steel tube. Thicker walled (.049) than most of the rest of the frame too. Anyway, I drove 2-hours to a place that carries the stuf, then it cost a little more than $5/ft. I didn't want to stall the fuselage building waiting to get a shipment from my main supplier in PA.
