Brief Description: Final fit & tack weld of Sta82 rollcage
Aft fuselage rollcage structure. This is fun-stuff. Every piece added fleshes out the outline of the plane more and more. All the welding I've been doing thus far has been little tack welds, and in the process I've gotten a lot better at getting nice, smooth, nonporous welds. I find the secret is all in the way the flame looks and sounds. Too mild, and it takes forever to get a puddle going. Then if you touch the weld-wire to the puddle it cools down too much. Too hot, and you get a sizzling puddle that leaves an ugly, porous, brittle weld. When it's just right, it flows into the base metal, and a nice honey-looking weld results.
