Brief Description:  Started Working on Landing Gear

I had deburred the U-810 wheel pant brackets some time ago. I sprayed them with primer today in between rain showers. I then cut the 13/32" spacers needed to get the 1/16" clearance btween the U-810 and brake disk. I cut them on the bandsaw, chucked them in the drill press and then while spinning, pressed them down on sandpaper to flatten and smooth the ends. I had some fun trying to figure out how the Matco brakes and U-810 fit together. I did a search and found where Bruce Hill had asked the same question on VAF. Unfortunately, the thread ended without the answer so I checked Bruce's website. Turns out, you have to trim the U-810 bracket to fit around the Matco brake. The upper right bolt in the third picture is the area of interference. I filed the bracket out to fit around the brake caliper and checked the fit before calling it a night. I got the initial draft of my panel from Jed at Stein Air yesterday. I sent back a few (lot?) of questions and look forward to what he comes up with. I took the week off to go to Triple Tree, but I think I will stay home and work on the plane all week instead. I haven't checked the weather, but rumblings are that Hurricane Irma may make for a wet week. Not good traveling or camping weather. I am hoping the best for Triple Tree attendees.
