Brief Description:  Even More Canopy Frame Work

Looking at the pilot side drill mark on the hinge from yesterday, it appears that perhaps the frame moved while I was bleeding out in the fuselage. I placed the assembly back on the fuselage and this time, I clambered into the fuse and drilled it with my head under the panel and feet in the baggage area. No blood lost this go around and the hole came out centered. I drilled the holes to 3/8", installed the brass bushings with a pneumatic rivet squesezer, and put the frame back on the fuselage using the pull pins to temporarily hold it in place. Fitting the canopy frame is enough to make me wish I had installed the t-handle and pin release mechanism for ease in removing the beast. I filed the canopy seal to provide relief between the canopy frame and the seal when the canopy moves forward. I was beginning to see first hand what people mean when they say that everytime you adjust something on the canopy, another thing moves. It was driven home when I removed the skin six times to file relief in the canopy frame skin so that it would not catch on the forward skin when opening. What was a nice, even gap between the two skins now varies greatly. At least the skin does not catch when I raise the assembly. I cut the 1/8" aluminum and 7/8" wood spacers for the canopy frame. I then started installing the AN3-5A bolts and AN509-10R-10 screws in the aft canopy bow (can't remember the exact part name at the moment but you can see it in the third picture). What a pain the in the rear. I still have the two screws to go on the passenger side.
