Brief Description:  More Canopy Frame

Friday, a week ago, I picked up the second piece of tubing that I bent for the fuel injection. The bend was a little too tight to be able to slide the sleeve down to flare the tubing end. I went in the house and called Tom Swearengen at TS Flightlines. Later that day, I received a quote for three options for fuel lines and tubing. I had to work last weekend, so I was not able to get back to Tom until Tuesday afternoon. I placed the order and he shipped them out yesterday. Today, I got back to work on the canopy frame. I purchased a wide ratcheting strap that was over twice the length that I needed. I wrapped it around the canopy frame and fuselage twice and cranked it down. It brought the passenger side of the skin even with the fueselage but the pilot side still stuck out a little. The heck with it. I drilled the splice plate to #40, removed the chips and drilled the hinge tabs to #30. Didn't look any worse (or better) so I drilled the spice plate to #30. I countersunk the frame for the flush rivets on the forward side and riveted the plate and hinges to the frame. I put the assembly back on the fuse and used a 90 degree drill through the opening in the firewall to mark the hinges through the blocks. It was hot and I could feel sweat pouring down my arm, onto my leg and hitting the floor. Turned out that it was blood as I had a nasty laceration on my arm from reaching through the firewall. That ended my work for the day as I tried to staunch the bleeding. I probably need stitches, but really don't feel like sitting in the ER or Doc in a Box for hours. No pictures today (of the plane or the wound). (Edit 05-29-16) Added pictures from yesterday. The passenger side hinge looks good to go, but the pilot side is off center. However, it appears that perhaps it moved as you can see a small drill mark in the center.
