Vic Syracuse inspected my friend Joe Tierney's RV-7 two weeks ago and Joe made his first flight last Saturday. I got to see his plane yesterday and it inspired me to get back to work on my own. I went out to the garage and still can't find a piece of AA3-032X3/4x3/4 for the subpanel braces. I drilled two holes in the subpanel cable bracket (F-746?) and came inside to order the angle from Van's. I had them throw in some Proseal for the vents and four bolts for my Crow safety belts. I also ordered my Van's Air Force data plate and the plans on CD.
I then pestered Joe with a million questions on switches and such for the panel. I really like his panel layout. I placed an order with Stein for some toggle switches, USB cables, a 12V charging plug, and a few 5 amp circuit breakers.
While watching the Packers/Cowboys game, I decided to bolt the tailwheel to the aftermarket fork I purchased. It took over a half hour to remove the two AN3 bolts from the fork. I then spent over thirty minutes trying to reinsert the bolts through the fork and spring. I only succeeded in destroying the two bolts. I placed an order with ACS for four bolts to provide a (hopefully) comfortable margin for error. It's been three months since I worked on the plane and I am having a hard time restarting!
