Brief Description:  F-717R&L Lower Longerons, F-684 Gussets

Santa was VERY good to me this year so it looks like time will now be the limiting factor in finishing this plane. Until now, when someone asked when the plane would be finished, I gave them a dollar amount instead of number of years.

I talked with Brent at Superior and Don at Airflow Perfomance on Monday. I think I will be using a Superior XP-360 with AFP injection, dual Pmags, and cold air induction. Hartzell constant speed prop and Classic Aero Interior. Dynon Skyview (or whatever they have in the future when I'm ready for it) for avionics. Anne at Van's emailed the packing list for the Firewall Forward Kit and I will get with Joe to see what I should delete and replace before I order.

In between window shopping for engines and interiors, I did a little work on the plane. Ginger and I flipped the canoe back upside down so I could easily get to the F-717 Lower Longerons. I started them yesterday by cutting them to length and removing excess material from the one side. Today, I clamped them into the bench vise and used my adjustable wrench to put some twist into them. I measure the four holes as shown in the plans, but "cheated" them 1/16" inboard to ensure proper edge distance. I clamped them into place and drilled them to #30 and then #12 for the AN3-5A bolts they will get. I then started working on the F-684 Gussets. I measured, trimmed and bent them. I called it a night before drilling them to the fuselage as I want to review some build logs first.
