Brief Description:  Drilled Side Skins and Firewall

Not much progress this week but I have good excuses. Friday was movie night at the hangar and Saturday was our EAA meeting and my niece was born! Today, I got back into the garage and finished drilling the center fuselage assembly to the aft fuselage assembly. I got the side skins drilled to the outside ribs and corner ribs. I removed the clecos from the F19R&L forward section of the longeron where they have "twist." I used the firewall to gauge the amount of twist needed and then used two adjustable wrenches to twist the longerons to the correct position. I replaced all of the clecos but the first seven and set the firewall in place and clamped the WD-602 brackets to the inside of the longerons. I had previously drawn a center line on the angle on the bottom of the firewall. Once I clecoed the F-772 Forward Bottom Skin to the F-704 Bulkhead, I clamped the firewall to the skin with the line showing through the second row of holes. I drilled a hole on either side of the fuselage and clecoed the firewall to set the distance between the firewall and the F-704. I put AN470AD4 rivets in the holes in the skin and longeron where the overlap the the WD-602 to keep everything aligned. I checked to make sure the forward face of the firewall was 5/8" of an inch aft of the forward edge of the F-770 side skin. The longerons were still clamped tightly to the WD-602 Brackets and the rivets were still in place so it was time to drill the side skins to the firewall flanges and then drill the skins and longerons to the WD-602 Brackets. I googled the F-713R&L Longerons to figure out exactly what I needed to do. I then got them cut and drilled into position. I skipped ahead and clecoed the F-724 vertical ribs to the F-770 Side Skins. I stopped and came inside to google the F-719R&L Forward Skin Stiffeners before continuing.
