Brief Description:  Aft Fuselage Assembly

The manual calls for bending the longerons next, but George Orndorff says that it can wait so wait it will (at least a day). I decided to start the aft fuselage assembly as it seemed infinitely more interesting. It was...until I tried clecoing the F-779 Tailcone Skin to the F-711 and F-712 bulkheads. Oy vey. I took a couple of swings at "relieving" the tailcone skin to clear the tail spring mount tube and I think it came out ok. I used a unibit to enlarge the hole in the forward part to allow access for a socket.

Next up was fitting the WD-409 to the F-711 and F-712 bulkheads. This made clecoing the bulkheads to the skin seem "fun." Got it done and drilled for the AN4 bolts and the "keeper" rivets.

I clecoed the bulkheads to the F-778 Aft Bottom Skin. I cut the J-Stringers to length and modified the ends of the upper and lower stringers. I wished I had paid more attention to Orndorff as my aft angles leave a little to be desired. I clecoed the F-773 side skins to the assembly and marked the center lines of the J-Stringers and slid them into place. I added the F-706 Bulkhead to the mix and clecoed the F-729A to the bottom skin. For the coup de grace, I clecoed the tailcone skin and bulkheads to the rest of the assembly and checked for twist It looked good, so I pressed on and drilled the J-Stringers. I started to drill the rest of the holes, but quit after the F-711 and F-712. Gotta save something for tomorrow.
