I didn't really feel like working on the plane last night after hearing the news about Tony, "TKATC" on VAF. I spent the evening rereading some of his posts and looking at his build log.
Today, I primed the control column mounts and cover support ribs. While waiting for the paint to dry, I attached the K1000-08 platenuts to the F-704-A and B.
I loosely bolted the mounts to the F-704-B and bolted the control mount and sticks to the mounts. Even with washer wrenches, it was an adventure getting the washers in place. I thought I had the correct number/type of washers figured out but I was wrong once and had to try another iteration. I got it figured out and I think it came out ok.
I fabricated the F-704-M web stiffeners and drilled them to the F-704-A. After that, I was able to rivet the cover support ribs and stiffeners to F-704-A.
I finished the day by shooting/bucking the rivets attaching the F-704-C to the F-704-A and the F-704-D to the F-704-B. Next up is construction of the F-904-J center section spacers and some wooden spacer blocks.
