Brief Description:  Temporarily Mounted Elevators to Horizontal Stab

I ordered the temporary pin fastening kit from Avery's after reading about it on Ethan Jacoby's build site. The pins made temporarily attaching the elevators to the horizontal stabilizer much easier, especially since I was trying to do it by myself. I trimmed 31/32" from the horizontal stab to allow the elevators to swing through unimpeded. A Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel made quick work of the trimming. I radiused the corner with a round file, smoothed the edges and voila! I marked the fiberglass elevator tip and used the cutoff wheel on it as well. The other fiberglass elevator tip was already trimmed. I still have a few questions about attaching the tips so I think I will take one to our EAA Meeting and ask the experts. I will also take the left elevator and trim tab servo as Joe Tierney is bringing his crimper so that I can crimp the D-sub pins to the servo wires. Eventually, I will purchase my own crimper but right now I just need to crimp six pins so no need to drop $400 on a Daniel's crimper at the moment.
