I was procrastinating starting back on the canopy and decided to install the engine mount and get it out of my music room. I drilled the upper right hole to 3/8" and installed a bolt. I tried using duct tape to hold the mount in place and then drilled the upper left hole. I started with a bit less than 1/8" and gradually worked my way up to 3/8". I broke one bit and burnt two or three others up but got it done. I estimated where the firewall needed relief for the landing gear and used a dremel tool to cut the material away. The picture shows the opening mid-process but is roughly the final shape. I bolted the mount to the firewall and went for broke and installed the cotter pins. I hope that I can finish the rest of the firewall openings with the mount installed.
