Brief Description:  Canopy Frame and Side Skirts

I wanted to finish the canopy frame today and then I found that I had forgotten to rivet the tabs on the side rails to the forward canopy frame. Since I had already riveted the C-702 skin to the frame, it became a little more "challenging." I peeled the skin back, drilled the holes, countersunk them, and then used a "no hole" yoke to squeeze them. The picture was taken during the middle of smoothing the joint using a sanding disk on a Dremel. The weather was hot again today, so I thought I might cut the rear portion of the canopy. I marked the outline of the skin and then measured back 1.375". Plans call for 1.25" for the initial cut but I wanted a smidge extra since I had already made the "big cut." After getting it marked, the temperature dropped and we got a rain storm so I shelved the plan to cut and moved on to the side skirts. For some reason, I could not get my head wrapped around how to reconcile the plans with reality. I spent too much time researching others' build logs before pressing on. I clamped the skins in place, marked the rear cut line and traced the outline of the top of the canopy frame side rails on the skins. After cutting them on the bandsaw, I smoothed the edges and drilled the #40 holes. I clamped the skins in place on the fuse and matchdrilled the skins to the side rails. I start a week of call tomorrow morning, so I called it quits for the night.
