I want to rivet the canopy skin to the frame before I continue with cutting the canopy. I began constructing the front and rear blocks for attaching the canopy struts. I also made a modification which should brace the canopy frame and keep the struts from pushing it forward and out of position. I cut two pieces of angle the width of the longeron and curved the forward leg to match the curve of the panel. I drilled a 1/4" hole through the leg and subpanel and inserted a bolt with a large, flat head. This sits against the canopy frame and prevents it from moving forward and out of position. When I measured the 3/8" from the forward edge of the splice plate to the C-725 block, I found that position would interfere with a rivet. I discussed the situation with Joe Tierney and decided to move the block forward a smidge. Crisis averted. I dimpled the canopy skin and countersunk the canopy frame. I riveted the small tabs to the canopy braces and called it a day. Hopefully, I can get it riveted together on Friday and get back to cutting the canopy. I also hope to move the wings to the hangar this weekend to free up some space in the garage.
