Brief Description:  Canopy Cutting

Was fairly disgusted after the last two outings working on the plane in January. It took me seven hours to do things that should have taken three or less hours. I also broke my 3/32" dimple die. At the time, I decided to take a day or two off and just play music. Three months later, I am back to work on the plane. In the meantime, my exhaust arrived from Vetterman. I ordered the four pipe with heat muff and no mufflers. I also went to Sun n Fun and had a great time. I purchased a Tig welder from Lincoln and took their welding workshop. I have absolutely no need for a welder (until I build a Bearhawk!) but I wanted one. I also decided to go with Flightline Interiors for my seats, carpet, etc. I talked to Abby last week and gave her a deposit. She indicated that I should receive the items in June. Today, I marked the centerline on the canopy. I taped off the front and rear portions of the canopy at the tooling lines. I had previously purchased a Harbor Freight die grinder to cut the canopy. The first cut took forever using that die grinder and my air compressor. I made the second cut using the cutting disc in my drill. That went much better, but I am going to purchase a Rotozip in the morning at the recommendation of my friend Joe. I also ordered a new dimple die from Cleaveland Tool.
